Boko Haram: We’ll carry arms, if… –MASSOB scribe

Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has said it will jettison its non-violent posture towards its struggle and carry arms if the Boko Haram insurgents threatening parts of the North-East attack anywhere in the South-East.

This is even as the organization has advised Ndigbo to be vigilant during the Christmas period to avoid playing into the hands of the Boko Haram insurgents.

In a statement at the weekend, MASSOB National Assistant Director of Information, Sunny Okereafor, said Boko Haram which had been wrecking havoc in the North-East was advancing towards the South.

Okereafor said despite the denials by the Federal Government, the attack last week at Ekiti prison was the handiwork of Boko Haram and urged Ndigbo to be vigilant while MASSOB would defend the territory.

“Boko Haram which has been wrecking havoc in the North-East is currently making in roads towards the southern part of the country with the recent attack on Ekiti prisons where they set their members free.

“The Federal Government has been saying that the people who attacked the prisons were ordinary gunmen, but information at our disposal indicated they were Boko Haram members.”

“We are against the activities of Boko Haram and as such, we want to sound this note of warning that if they attack any location in Igbo land, we will leave our non-violent stance and face them,” he said.

Okereafor urged Igbo to rally round MASSOB, saying it was the only way their lives and property could be protected.

He reasoned that MASSOB was a model of free fighter organization, stressing that at the actualization of Biafra; there would no longer be violent struggle in Africa, as each emerging group would structure its programme towards MASSOB’s non-violent posture.
