In a landslide governorship primary in Kaduna
State, Governor Mukhtar Yero won the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) slot this evening, scoring
970 votes. He will clash with All Progressives
Congress (APC) candidate, Malam Nasir El-Rufai,
who had on Friday emerged after defeating four
contenders from the party.
Yero's fellow contestant in today's exercise, Senator
Haruna Aziz got only one vote to the chagrin of the
delegates that attended the primaries.
Chair of the committee, Steve Oru, who declared the
governor winner said only 972 votes were cast with
one single invalid ballot.
With these developments, both Yero and El-Rufai are
now top contenders in the February 2015
governorship elections.
